HOW DID WE COME UP WITH THE IDEA?
Oat Paws started with me, Danny, and my dog Kora. Like a lot of dog parents, I wanted to share the fun moments with her, the treats, the celebrations, the little joys, but I kept running into the same problem. So many dog treats felt overly processed or made with ingredients I wouldn’t choose if I truly thought about what was best for her. Watching Kora, I realized she deserved better than “good enough.”
The idea really clicked when I noticed how much dogs love ice cream and how often dog parents want to include their pups in special moments. Traditional ice cream wasn’t an option, so I started experimenting with something made for dogs, not adapted from human food. Oats became the foundation because they’re gentle, nourishing, and easy on sensitive stomachs. Every recipe that followed was built with Kora in mind, simple, functional ingredients with a clear purpose.
As Oat Paws grew from a home idea into a real brand, it became about more than just a frozen treat. One verse kept coming back to me: Proverbs 12:10, “The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” That belief shaped every decision, from ingredient sourcing to portion size to how the product is presented. Caring for animals isn’t just about love; it’s about responsibility and intention.
Kora was there through the early testing, the flavor trials, and the countless moments of refining. Her reactions, tail wags, eager licks, and quiet approval, were the most honest feedback I could ask for. Through farmers markets, dog events, and conversations with other dog parents, Oat Paws continued to evolve, always grounded in the same question: Is this something I feel good about giving to my own dog?
